Sweet Canaan Quilt

Sweet Canaan Quilt, 57" x 57", pieced by Jean Stanclift, machine quilted by Jeanne Zyck, Lawrence, Kansas.

Barbara combined two traditional blocks named "Catch-Me-if-You-Can" and "North Star" in a small quilt to symbolize the Underground Railroad. Jean pieced it in shades of blue-violet, navy and yellow with a touch of green.

This quilt was the model for a pattern in Barbara's book Facts & Fabrications: Unraveling the History of Quilts & Slavery (see page 71.)
