Georgia Tulip hand appliqued by Barbara Brackman, machine quilted by Pamela Mayfield, 2007, 35" x 31"
The inspiration is the quilt on the cover of the Georgia Quilt Project book, Georgia Quilts, a string-pieced tulip by Mary Lizzie Parham. Rather than string-piecing the petals I appliqued striped fabrics.
The quilt is the model on page 123 of my book Making History: Quilts & Fabric from 1890-1970.
