Barbara has taken 16 masterpiece paintings - from painters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, and Georges Seurat - and added something having to do with quiltmaking - a quilt or two, a sewing machine, patchwork clothing. The cover features a previously unknown painting by Botticelli, "Still Too Cold for Swimming," the March lost masterpiece (see detail at left). This 16-month calendar includes 2009 and the first four months of 2010. Also included is Barbara's "Paint Box" pattern - a quilt pattern inspired by Gustav Klimt's painting "The Kiss".

Clues in the Calico: A Guide to Identifying and Dating Antique Quilts
A standard for dating old quilts, this book has been out of print for many years (EPM Publications, 1989). Right now a used copy sells for well over $100. There is some chance that it could someday be reprinted, but I've been revising it chapter by chapter. Chapter 4, Clues in Color & Dyes, has been broadened into the book America's Printed Fabric and my new book Making History: Quilts & Fabric from 1890-1970 (see above).
